Class Descriptions

The World Yoga Center offers the following classes for students of all levels and abilities:

Sunday a.m. 2-Hour Yoga and Meditation Class
For students of all levels, Rudrani’s 2-hour Sunday morning class offers a blissful, meditative Yoga escape. Both teacher and students have time to breathe life into the principles and practices of meditation and the unifying forces of Yoga.

Basic/Level 1
This class pays special attention to the Anusara Universal Principles of
Alignment and how we experience them in our bodies and in basic yoga poses. It is appropriate for those new to yoga and for those wishing to refine and review the building blocks of an Anusara yoga practice.

Basic/Restorative

This nourishing and fortifying class weaves gentle asana and supported restorative postures held for long intervals to nourish the body, calm the mind and rejuvenate the spirit. Students will be guided through the practice of pranayama (breathing) and dharana (meditation) to cultivate insight, clarity and deep peace.  This class is open to all who want to experience a healing and rejuvenating practice and is especially helpful for those suffering from chronic pain, fatigue or stress.

Level 1
For brand-new beginners as well as students who have been practicing for some time. These classes offer fundamental training in the postures as well as relaxation, breathing and meditation techniques.

Level 2
For students familiar with the basic principles of alignment who wish to deepen and advance their asana practice.

Open Level
For students of all levels. These multi-level classes allow you to work at your own frontier. As in all WYC classes, students receive individualized attention.

Fertility Yoga
This class offers a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment to help women cope with the stress of trying to conceive. Breathing exercises, asana, restorative poses, meditation and visualization help connect women deeply in mind, body, and spirit to themselves and their intention.

Gentle/Restorative Yoga - Wednesday and Friday Evenings
These are gentle hatha yoga classes where we use the Anusara principles to align and make space in the body, and the breath, to still the mind. Restorative focuses as much on the inner practices of Yoga - pranayama (breathing), pratyahara (taking the attention inward) and meditation - as on the physical practice. This is an excellent class for those with therapeutic issues. It is also an excellent class for both beginners and advanced Yogis who wish to relax and restore their physical bodies while calming the mind.

Yoga Therapeutics
The power of Yoga and its liberating joy is for everyone including those working with limitations. Using the Anusara principles of alignment, this class helps bring awareness into the body to promote maximum healing. This class is slow-paced and is appropriate for students who are recovering from injuries, illness or surgery. It allows ample time to address questions and concerns. Students who currently practice yoga and experience physical discomfort during certain asanas can also benefit. This class clarifies how you can modify your asana practice in class and at home.

Free Community Class Saturday 8:00-9:30am
This class is open to the public and features our talented new teachers who have successfully completed our 2 year WYC Anusara Yoga teaching program. All are welcome!

"WYC Kids" Children's Program
"WYC Kids" is a playful introduction to Yoga! Through weaving yoga poses with play-acting, games, music and stories, our children can also experience the joy and quieting benefits of a yoga practice. At "WYC Kids," children learn yoga techniques to help them throughout their lives, while moving into their natural selves, letting go of their tensions and having fun!
